TRADING VOLUME INCHES DOWN
Average daily Nasdaq volume in April was 1.77 billion shares traded,
easing 2% from the preceding month's average of 1.8 billion. NYSE
volume has also declined slightly, with average daily volume for
April of 1.06 billion shares, down from 1.13 billion in March. The
new Robertson Stephens eBrokers Index (which closed Thursday at 131)
is up 38% from its year-to-date lows. Key metrics continue to
indicate strong growth and a fertile market, in our view.
