I will post it yet again, still not seeing why you see having left off the part after "probably," (it was the "probably" that struck me), is "skullduggery."
<<<By, "business is business", I meant just that. Israeli intelligence has some damaging recordings, and sells them for profit, probably, to whoever is on them. It also keeps them among the most valued nations to the U.S. Nothing new. Been going on for decades.>>>
(I omitted the Jewish joke not because of skullduggery but because we all know it now. All ethnicities and religions tell jokes about themselves; sometimes those not of that religion refrain from taking the same liberties. I, for example, would tell that joke to a Jew, but not to a non-Jew. Something about it doesn't feel right in the second case. But that is only personal, I realize.)
You read about an Israeli spy case, and said, (by memory) "Does that surprise you? Business is business."
It struck me as odd, and I wondered if you meant that spying by Jews is not surprising, because business, or money, was involved.
That's why I asked if you meant just "business as usual," or something additional.
You meant something different, about Jews and spying, and associated with "business."
I don't accuse you of any personal antisemitism. But I have noticed, with some concern, the increase, in our culture and in the media, in the number of references to Jews based on certain stereotypes, and that is why I was interested to see if your comment about an Israeli spy story, "Does that surprise you? Business is business," was one of those negative stereotype stories.
I almost didn't pursue it, because I have enough on my George W. Bush thread plate, but if I don't ask for clarification on a matter like that, it bothers my conscience. So I did. |
