>However, in my considered opinion, the information contained in this fax isn't worth the curly paper it's
written on. This company does indeed allege that Iomega's jaz disk production line is closed due to
problems which Iomega can't solve. They state their opinion that the problems are caused by a
fundamental design flaw.<

Given Allen's standing as an unabashed bull, I would say his synopsis of the fax is fairly accurate. We do, however, disagree on one point. Whereas the fax speaks in one section about Jaz engineering problems, that is not what I believed to be the critical point. The critical part was that IOM may have erred in the setting up of the assembly line itself, such that contammination of the Jaz cartridge was a random, but inherent problem. Therefore, even after a cleansing of the line, contammination still occurred. As far as the credibility of the source, I am not sure how Allen thinks that the company who wrote the information could hope to stay in business by spinning tales. Are you suggesting that they are part of the conspiracy or just developed a cottage industry pandering to it? Anyway, to Allen, these were just rhetorical questions for the masses. I have no beef with you (for the moment). You were fair on you conveyance of the fax contents.

Allen will also be conveying news (hopefully) on writeable DVD (DVD-RAM) coming out by the end of the year at prices "well below $500". (This was a story off of Bloomberg that I also faxed him.) After he has posted that we can debate whether we can still expect Zip to become the standard. Needless to say, KE was a little off when he said on the conference call that writeable, affordable DVD was many moons away. Perhaps he just does not keep an eye on the competition or maybe....
