The problem you have is RMBS is 5 times the cost of SDRAM (per pricewatch 256MB sticks) so the difference is about $800 bucks not $50.

That's the aftermarket price and RDRAM is definitely in short supply there. Dell has the B and T series desktops and identically configured machines (except one with SDRAM and the other with RDRAM) are about $240 apart in price, or about 10%.
