A valid model but one that will not exist until the infrastructure and market is ready which in my opinion will not be for at least 10 years. You're talking about soem pretty fancy stuff there. Furthermore for this instantaneous licencing model to work you could only really charge a couple of cents per song - only then would I agree with you.

But regardless I think in the shorter term there is a viable market for open format downloadable music which if presented in the right way could potentially expand the market significantly. I'm currently downloading songs from E-music.com which I don't pass onto my friends. I simply refer my friends to that site - after all it's only 99c a song. I just wish they had a better selection.
