AM Communications Announces New Monitoring Product Invensys CPR Power Supply

NEW ORLEANS, May 8, 2000 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- AM Communications, Inc. (OTC: AMCM)
announced a new transponder for monitoring Invensys' CPR(TM) telecommunications
network power supplies.

Employing AM's FlexStat(TM) transponder technology, this new monitoring solution
allows the CPR to be managed by AM's OmniStat(TM) Network Management
Architecture.

The Model 9163 CPR transponder provides a clean, capable, and fully integrated
monitoring solution that keeps track of every important parameter in the CPR
power supply. This includes Output AC Voltage, Output AC Current, Output AC
Frequency, Output AC Power, AC Line Voltage, Total Battery Voltage, Battery
String Voltage Matching, Standby Status, Charger Status, and Cabinet Tamper,
among others.

"The 9163 represents a major price-performance breakthrough for monitoring
standby power supplies," said Harry Tankin, President of AM Communications.
"Consistent with AM's policy of cooperative engineering, the 9163 was designed
in full cooperation with Invensys, and can be installed within the CPR's front
panel in just minutes. The combined CPR-9163 design not only allows easy
transponder installation, but minimizes the need for expensive wiring harnesses
and cables that add considerable cost to the transponder product," continued
Tankin.

Using AM's Omni2000(TM) remote network monitoring software, network operations
personnel can also force the CPR to operate in the standby mode, providing a
full load test on the battery strings. A powerful Automatic Power Supply Test
Utility from AM Communications allows Omni2000 to automatically perform a full
load test on the power supply's batteries at user defined intervals and produces
test summaries that indicate when and where preventative maintenance personnel
need to be dispatched.
