The ValueAmerica comparison is perfect. Both companies blow through their money (VUSA did it in advertising as well) while they showed good growth in revenues. However, both companies also provided crappy service; go read the article in BusinessWeek. In addition, both CEOs are making bundles (CC's $75 million) in a money losing Business.

As for AMZN, I liked it because it is a great momentum play, and that was well before this new demand on internet companies to make money. I have held on to about 500 AMZN shares, down from a high of 2000 shares. One reason is that the cost basis is fairly low for the stock I hold (less than $20). The other is that AMZN options are extremely volatile and the covered call action is quite profitable. Perhaps you too should pick a stock with decent covered call action. EGRP certainly does not command much of a premium these days.
