Attention Business Editors:

Roger Boivin to head up Com Dev Wireless

Veteran Marketing Executive To Lead Company's Expansion Into
Broadband Wireless

CAMBRIDGE, ON, May 8 /CNW/ - Seeking to build on its strong and steady
sales growth, COM DEV International Ltd. (TSE: CDV) has appointed Mr. Roger
Boivin as President of COM DEV Wireless, effective June 5, 2000. As Vice
President of Sales and Marketing, Mr. Boivin has been instrumental in
increasing orders with existing customers and developing new high profile,
global accounts this year.
"Mr. Boivin has a strong track record with some of the most successful
telecommunications companies in the world and brings powerful vision to his
new role as President of COM DEV Wireless," said Keith Ainsworth, President
and CEO of COM DEV. "Under his leadership, COM DEV Wireless has found new
markets and opportunities for COM DEV's innovative products. This change in
our Senior Management team will help the Company build upon those successes by
targeting developing markets and preparing for rapid growth."
Mr. Boivin's extensive experience with wireless Internet technology will
also be key in his new role. He was the architect of COM DEV's marketing plan
for the introduction of new broadband wireless Internet products that the
Company previewed at its Annual General Meeting in April. The worldwide
wireless Internet technology market is projected to be US$40 billion by 2005.
Mr. Boivin worked closely with his predecessor, Dr. Peter Scovell, to
develop a strong management team with a specific marketing focus. Establishing
and staffing a new office close to major clients in Dallas' Telecom Corridor
is an example of COM DEV's commitment to strengthening existing relationships
and driving growth.
Dr. Scovell will now join COM DEV's Board of Directors from where he will
be able to continue making a strong contribution to COM DEV's strategic
direction. His move is consistent with the commitment he made to see the
Company through its restructuring and return to profitability, when he agreed
to leave his own consulting firm to take over COM DEV Wireless.

COM DEV International Ltd. is a leading producer of wireless
infrastructure and the largest Canadian-owned designer and manufacturer of
space hardware subsystems. It operates through two divisions: COM DEV Wireless
and COM DEV Space. The Company employs more than 1,200 people at facilities in
Ontario, New Brunswick, the United States, the United Kingdom and China.
COM DEV Wireless designs and manufactures leading edge wireless systems
and subsystems that enjoy broad acceptance among global wireless, cellular
telephone and PCS vendors. System products include Soft Radios, broadband
wireless Internet products and low cost IS136 TDMA Base Stations optimized for
rural cellular and low teledensity applications. Subsystem products comprise
signal-conditioning equipments that play a critical role in the performance of
every cellular Base Station in which they are installed. Typically, these
products are provided as cost-effective assemblages that integrate signal
filtering, signal amplification and alarm monitoring in a single compact
electronics package.
COM DEV Space manufactures advanced products that are sold to the major
satellite prime contractors for use in commercial communications and earth
science satellites.
