JC - see my post to Richard - the default has been "No" since Office98...

But in general, the trend for MS users is to disable all that pesky security stuff, along with the virus checker and the disk defragmenter and all that other time-wasting stuff.

That creates an environment ripe for abuse. But my experience in the "old" unix world was also that the average users did not care much about security, and I used to pretty much be able to get root in about 3 tries on almost any system I needed. Of course I was usually doing it for a "noble" reason - like fixing a system problem for someone. Still, this is more a cultural thing than a technology thing.
