'Cirque de Soleil'

OK, I admit that I am an uncultured couth. I went to a performance in Orlando with my son and some of his 'theater' friends.
I didn't understand any of the symbolism. What?s with the french peasant look when the performers are storming back and forth across the stage?

Tom

it symbolizes the proletariat masses beaten down by the large bourgeoisie market makers and institutions, the instability of markets, the proliferation of greed and hopelessness in the movement of the performers as they storm to and fro across the stage in a desperate search for meaning... You didn't get that?! Boy, you are dense!

The other possibility is that they are doing it because it looks good. (Reminds me of an old interview with Bob Dylan in which the interviewer was asking him for the profound meaning of some of his lyrics, and Dylan replied,"Hey, I just wanted it to rhyme, man.")
