After the Bell - VoiceStream falls after results

NEW YORK, May 8 (Reuters) - Shares of VoiceStream Wireless Corp.
(NasdaqNM:VSTR - news) fell in after-hours trading on Monday after the wireless phone
company posted a first-quarter loss that was significantly deeper than expected.

The stock dropped to 96-1/4 after the bell, traders said, compared with a closing price 105-1/4 on Nasdaq. During the regular
session, VoiceStream shares fell 10-13/16.

After the market closed, the Washington-based company posted a quarterly loss of $1.68 per diluted share, compared with a
loss of 81 cents per share a year ago. Wall Street had pegged VoiceStream at a first-quarter loss of $1.14 per share,
according to First Call/Thomson Financial.
