penni,
It was a little bit tongue-in-cheek, but not completely. I have always seemed to make decisions more quickly and take more risks than most people. I've left myself open for pain in doing this, but have also been rewarded. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
In a literal sense, five sentences would not be enough. But I think that there needs to be an immediacy in love, as in other areas of our lives. Too often it is fear that holds us back. Life is too short for that.
The value of commitment cannot be overstated. My children (all boys) have been taught that sex is good, and that commitment (not marriage, or a certain age) should precede it. Also that they should be responsible, by being honest, unselfish, careful, and at their current ages, respectful of the concerns of the girl's parents.
