Timmy, I know how you felt when the sparrow died. I've tried to save a few myself, but they are such delicate little creatures that chances are very slim.

I do have a success story though. Found a little featherless "thing" on the lawn when I was cutting the grass a few years back. I say thing because it wasn't immediately recognizable as a bird. Anyway, it had somehow fallen or was pushed out of the bird house. I fed it with a syringe for weeks and weeks, weaned it on to seeds, and it feathered and grew into a noisy little house sparrow which flew in and out of my kitchen all summer. Used to come home to roost at night. Then one day, she never came back.

I like to think that she found a mate but the truth is, she had no fear. Not of man, nor beast. But I push that thought aside and prefer to think that she found a mate instead.

Anyway, don't stop trying to save them Tim, because one day it'll work and you will be richly rewarded.

Rose
