It is Step One in a plan to chip away at Social Security until the whole thing is left in the hands of individual investors. And, we've seen how wise individual investors are in bidding up no-name Internet stocks to absurd valuations (we'll see more deflation yet, IMHO).

This is hatched by the same folks who gave you bank deregulation. I am thinking--I am thinking this is a pandering attempt to fix what isn't broken. If it's meaningful, it carries too many perils with it; if it's unmeaningful ("only 2%"), then why do it at all?
