When Griffin overbid for Resorts in AC (due to that battle of egos with Trump) he was left with tremendous debt service. This meant he had to squeeze the slot players. I was an investor in resorts. When me, my mom and wife went down there we each took 100 bucks to play different slots, then met and compared results. We all were wiped out in a matter of minutes, the most anyone had was two small hits. I sold my Resorts stock the next morning. IMO Nevstar was in the same boat, they had to look to the Mesquite Star to bail them out of financial problems. This put them in a position where they had to kill the wharthog. We are getting the mesquite star at a song at a perfect time in the growth curve for this area. We are getting this property at a fantastic price. They key is this, the other Casinos are operating and showing profit. Aret has long term financing. (J. Dello) The Casino will begin produce immediate revenues. The fantastic price means they wont have to squeeze the slot players. (the backbone of all Casinos)After further revue I rate this as their number one purchase to date. It is tough to break new ground in any hospitality business. The safe way to do it is to make your initial entry into the field in an area where other businesses like yours are operating successfully. They are doing this in Mesquite. I think they delayed the PR for 1 1/2 months on this one until it was pretty much a done deal. At the price they are paying they may be able to show a bottom line profit within the first 6 months. There is so much in place already that their start up costs won't be daunting. I rate this purchase the work of a truly genius mind. LOL AJ
