Now that people have had a chance to see what it means to be banned from a thread, I'm considering converting this to an unmoderated thread. Upon conversion, If I chose to do so, anyone will be able to post.

I don't think moderated threads are a good idea. This thread was created to show the silliness of the whole idea.

In the future, there will be someone touting some obscure stock. He/she will pre-buy 100000 shares of this little company and then create a moderated thread. Then That person will post a whole bunch of positive messages. Anytime someone posts a negative response, the owner will ban the person and 'bait them to back up their negative remarks with facts'. The banned person will never get the chance to respond.

Then at a later point in time the average joe comes along and finds this thread. Not realizing what moderated means, he will read the thread and think, wow the creator is a guru on this stock, I need to get some shares.

Many average joes will purchase the shares, much positive notes will be posted.

At some point the creator will sell a big stake in his holdings, or perhaps over time take profits. Then by the time the average joe realize he has been scammed, his investment will be worthless. So the average joe will post a negative post, and the creator will continue to ban...

and so it goes.

I think in the long run, moderated threads will cause many a investor to lose their money to pure speculation and greed.

So vote here, should I make this unmoderated?

I think I should.

Thank you all for participating in this experiment....
