JC - *OT* re:You must have an *awesome stereo in your house
Funny you should mention it - big tube audio does at least have an awesome appearance. I have a set of amps hand built around 813 tubes (which are about 10 inches high and 5 inches in diameter) - they drive electrostatic speakers directly (~4000 V output). Subwoofer is driven by a KT88-based amp, (KT88s are about the size of a beer can) - no slouch in the size department either. Surround is driven by a Citation II, another KT88 based design. The amps cover about 8 feet of shelf, are behind glass doors and have their own Air Conditioning feed.

I built most of that stuff nearly 20 years ago but have fooled with it a lot over time.
