jk,

One reason Intel is in the motherboard business is so they won't be saddled with the problem of a lot flaky motherboards from third party manufacturers.

Intel performance as far as quality and reliability of the chipsets and motherboards has suffered since Intel jumped on the RMBS bandwagon.

It takes a a certain level of engineering expertise to design PC boards that work well at hundreds and thousands of MHZ.

The problem described in the pdf document has nothing to do with speed of the processor, FSB, multiplier, or any combination of the three.

The processors have been faster than the memories for some time and now the memories are catching up.

the ratio between the speed of the CPU and memory used to be 1:1. It has been going up since then, not down. Memory is not catching up. It's falling behind.

We will see more of this type of problem as clock speeds rise.

I hope we will not.

Joe
