Good points on implications of new wireless paradigm.

Re: Even if you have your wireless voice service on a GSM or TDMA network, you'll need to go with a CDMA carrier to get wireless PC cards.

I would add that, as a consumer, you will need to go with a CDMA carrier to get the exceptional data transfer rates that you need/desire. (There will be other slower options in the marketplace). In areas of the world where CDMA is allowed to compete with legacy systems (U.S. and Japan for starters) the CDMA carriers will have tremendous marketing leverage. They won't have to sell "voice clarity"; they can sell "speed". A quantifiable parameter that ANY consumer will understand, appreciate, and demand! Consumers will surely drive this next phase, as opposed to the "central planners", IMO.

Best, jack
