Thread,

I got an email from a company called Mindwave Research today asking to fill out a survey. (I agreed to fill out surveys in the future after I took one at Compaq's site.)

So why should you care? Here's what the survey is about -

"The recent increases in computing power have enabled PC users to accomplish more tasks quickly and run more
enhanced applications than ever before.

Mindwave Research, Inc., an independent marketing research company, would like to gather your opinions about PC
microprocessors.
"

In the survey they ask how willing you would to buy a computer with an Intel or AMD processor. They then ask the same question except they use actual processor names with Celeron, PIII, K6-2, and Athlon as options.

Then a page says this -

"A primary component of a PC is a part called a microprocessor. The microprocessor is the part of the PC that
performs the calculations that enable the software to work properly and quickly.

A major manufacturer is preparing a new microprocessor to power the next generation of desktop PCs. We would like
you to read a few statements related to this new microprocessor and tell us how you might feel about them.
"

The statements they are talking about are -

See What Tomorrow Brings
Meet Tomorrow Head On
Now You Can
Go Your Own Way
Think Ahead
Turn It On

They ask lots of questions about what you would think of those statements and if they were associated with a processor.

While they don't say who the survey is for, it is clearly for AMD or Intel. Based on the taglines, I am guessing this if for AMD, but I guess there is no way of finding out for sure.

FWIW, Mindwave Research is based in Austin.

I was reading the rules and if your name is randomly chosen to win the money they are giving away AND you are Canadian you have to take three math "skill questions". One of the questions is "36 + 64 = " I've heard stories, but are Canadians really THAT dumb? ;)))

(I expect a few responses to that last comment!)
