Jim Chris obviously feels the raid was "appropriate" because Elian is an illegal alien. . The fact that armed force threatened American citizens engaged in a CIVIL action regarding a child seeking ASYLUM is a horrendous wrong. For Chris to object to the word Gestapo because of its connotation is a laughable diversionary tactic of a PC zealot. The literal denotation of Gestapo -(Ge)heim (Sta)ats (Po)lizei - "Secret State Police" is absolutely accurate in Elian's case. Maybe we should be politic and use the term "Compastapo" - (Compas)sionate (Sta)te (Po)lice. I wonder if Chris, as a self-described free-thinking Republican "official', is concerned that Elian has been denied access to his legal counsel in his asylum hearing while at Wye Mountain?
