Gary!!!!, re:CONF.CALL, SBC Comm, and MCI !!!!! as you said: Not sure what you're saying. Are you suggesting that I should ignore what I heard on the CC and that you actually have the "real" data? OG
Well, following what you said we should not ignore what was said on any conf.call.,RIGHT?! Several weeks ago SBC Comm. and CSCO had joined CC about marketing /sales alliance. On that CC, SBC Comm executives stated clearly that CSCO has an opportunity on Ameritech territory in area of DSLAMs,VPN, ATM access switching platform ect., with emphasis on delivering to Ameritech customers, mainly corporate and business different type of services. He stated that CSCO is NOT part of Pronto Project , where about 5 billion of ATM/DSLAMs will be delivered (signed master agreement, with SBC, real contract!!! ) by Alcatel/Newbridge. Optics will be done by NT. Also, CSCO is not providing Pac Bell and South-Western Bell, both account for 80% of entire SBC Comm. BTW, Pronto project also cover Ameritch territory too. Since that was stated by SBC and not opposed by CSCO executives we do not have argue about that.
Today, D.Listwin was stretching his imagination, saying that CSCO is proffered supplier to SBC Comm (LOL!!!!!!!!!) CSCO can be , if successful in seling and marketing its solution to Ameritech customers, preferred supplier of smaller fraction of entire SBC carrier business
Did CSCO say today they won majority of WCOM IP/ATM. Not at all. They won some business, and nobody except CSCO and WCOM knows how much. If you follow that FACTS from SBC/CSCO conf. call and todays CC, CSCO may very well streching its imagination, this time regarding WOCM, again.
BTW, my friend there is big difference between contract approved in many cases by BOD of carrier, marketing/sales alliance. Where first is based on won network design, and means direct sales to carrier, the second is still only opportunity on paper, until is done, I should said approved(assuming they like it) by carrier customer. In CSCO case SBC/CSCO has to go and convinced spacific customer that CSCO offering is better. In the case of Pronto Project ALA/NN in DSALM/ATM or NT in the case of optical network have already got OK form SBC Comm.
