APRIL 2000 WBO RANKINGS:

Champion Vitali Klitschko (Ukraine)*
1 Mike Tyson
2 Wladimir Klitschko, Ukraine
3 Francois Botha, South Africa
4 Larry Donald
5 David Tua
6 Oleg Maskaev, Ukraine
7 David Izon
8 Danny Williams, Great Britain
9 Fabio Moli, Argentina
10 Chris Byrd*

*Klitschko lost to Chris Byrd in Russia in mid-April by mid-fight resignation due to injury, but then fought and won by KO on a Grant-Lewis undercard. So, this ranking has likely changed with Byrd having moved up a few positions. Byrd is often characterized as a middleweight fighting in the heavies, and, much as I like his spirit, IMO he doesn't have the speed, power, or ring generalship to beat guys like Tua, Tyson, or Maskaev. -LPS5
