thread, I watch a show last nite that comes on in austin about the qualifications for scibes and the making of talmuds and torahs' via parchments and animal skin scrolls.
it was very interesting that the detail they go thruogh to make sure there is no erros. in fact..vcan't use iquid papaer. some letters not form correctly and it's no good..start over.
the name of God must be absolutely perfect or those it in trash and start over.
all made from Kosher mat'ls. Bec. some letter look alike with a small dif. those must be perfect. they use a child as a test of letters.
not a real smart child bec. they may know what the word is but an avg intelligent child and whatever that child says the letter is then that is what they go with.
Interesting.
All letters are in caps no spacing or punctuations in Torah.
all letters have numbers. you could assign numbers to letters and actually cross sum total each scroll. they know what the numbers should be for the 28 sections. Like expense reports.
the torah is more of a picture than a written word so to speak.
on and on and on.
I think it's beatiful to want to scribe the Word and make sure there is no error created.
Even better to make sure it's in your heart perfect.<g>
