The flaw in your reasoning is equating sales with suitability and fitness for purpose. I am critical of Microsoft's products as a result of having used them and other products and thus having had the opportunity to perform an informed comparison. Microsoft's "enterprise" software is bettered in just about every measure by Unix. The poor reliability and erratic behavior of MS desktop software makes it expensive to support as well as infuriating and antagonistic to many end users. Crack cocaine is a big seller is many places and a great deal of money has been made from it; that doesn't mean it's a good thing. In this regard, Crack cocaine and Microsoft software have a great deal in common.
