Robert, but running 1.5 mbps over cable at $40/month is going to change a lot of people over to cable modems. I pay $15/month for my second line and 15.95/month for my ISP internet access. Now thats over $30/month,then with a $2/month surcharge and possibly greater access fees,my ISP says he is losing money on individual accounts and making money on corporate accounts. Cable modems dont require dial in access,I have many a time been denied access by my ISP. I can't see any way the fiber is not the answer, costs are coming down significantly as production goes up. All the major cables companies are investing heavily in HFC systems and services. It is their greatest opportunity they have ever had, they better not blow this on,or TCI will be on the auction block. Remember also that companies like TWX have a major advantage over the telco,s and ISP's with their content, and their internet content is also getting better(pathfinder). TWX has the most content of anyone, and the telco's don't even know how to get into that business. Content is the key,and @Home,Road Runner are going to be key players in internet content.
