I looked at yesterday's PR. It does seem to imply that SDLT tape storage is still being worked on. However, I also saw this:
MILPITAS, Calif., April 18, 2000 - Quantum Corporation's DLT & Storage Systems Group (NYSE:DSS) today announced that Super DLTtape? technology has gained support from all of the leading automated tape library companies. ADIC, ATL, Breece Hill Technologies, Overland Data, and StorageTek are among the Super DLTtape technology supporters as well as five major system OEMs and Tandberg Data ASA, which is a second source and licensee.
Through Quantum's innovative Customer Engagement Program (CEP), these companies have provided feedback on the design and testing of the complete Super DLTtape solution for more than a year. This detailed and rigorous program is geared toward helping ensure that Super DLTtape technology will seamlessly integrate and operate with existing as well as future Super DLTtape automation solutions.
Having received feedback from the industry through CEP, Super DLTtape technology has now entered into the design verification testing stage in which Quantum will rigorously test Super DLTtape devices as part of an effort to ensure superior product performance for the demanding storage needs of automated tape library and system OEM customers.
"Super DLTtape technology represents a quantum leap in tape capacity and performance, and will provide significant benefits to users," said Bob Abraham, president of Freeman Reports. "By implementing programs such as design verification testing and its Customer Engagement Program early in the process, Quantum is assured a jump start for Super DLTtape at its rollout."
Using breakthrough Super DLTtape architecture, Quantum will offer a family of competitively priced tape storage drives that range in capacity from greater than 100 GB up to one terabyte and range in transfer rates from more than 10 MB/sec. in excess of 100 MB/sec. (uncompressed).
"The groundswell of industry support for Super DLTtape technology is significant in allowing Quantum to move swiftly through the progression of bringing the technology to market," commented William Boles, vice president of marketing, Quantum DLTtape TM Division. "We have recently entered the design verification stage, a key marker signifying Super DLTtape technology is on track in securing its position as the industry's next generation platform of choice." ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ADIC or nobody else has SDLT. Are you implying that nobody is buying ADIC products (and therefor the stock is tanking) because SDLT is not available yet?
I do not see how a future product like SDLT, could be responsible for the selloff. Please state you reasons more clearly.
ADIC sells products that currently support DLT and many other formats. What % is DLT, I do not know. Call IR. ADIC's future is not pegged solely on a SDLT product line, IMO.
