Stephen, TCI is the biggest loser in the cable industry. They don't seem to have a clue what they are doing by the comments I have read here,in the newspaper and on the wires. They don't know what,MPEG-2 is,they don't understand HFC installation, they are late to the market,psueo-monopolistic,and probably should sell out to someone who can properly use their infrastructure and captive audience. If you wan to look at real cable companies, that know what they are doing, avoid TCI,look at Continetal Highway1(UMG),COX,Rogers in Canada, these are the real McCoy's.The other point being, the cable companies will upgrade now that they can see a positive revenue stream. Look at how many installations TWX is planning on this year, Rogers plans in Canada are enormous,UMG(Continental) has large plans(some in Florida in JAcksonville and Tampa,I think). Also TWX did a trial of telephony across HFC and was suprised and shocked by the quality of service in Austin,Texas. Tim |
