Terra Networks Becomes First V/Series Customer, Four Weeks After Its Debut
AUSTIN, Texas and MADRID, Spain, May 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Just four weeks after debuting its breakthrough new V/Series architecture, a fully integrated software platform and applications for conducting business online, Vignette Corporation (Nasdaq: VIGN), announced its largest ever software licensing agreement with Terra Networks S.A. (Nasdaq: TRRA), the Internet subsidiary of Telefonica S.A. and the premiere ISP for the Spanish speaking community.
Terra Networks' objective is to become the number one content and Internet access provider in the Spanish speaking marketplace, serving a vast and culturally diverse market which exceeds 500 million people worldwide. As part of its contract with Vignette, Terra Networks will standardize its worldwide e-Business operations on the Vignette V/Series eBusiness applications platform, initially re-launching its local community sites in Argentina, Brazil, Central America, Chile, Mexico, Peru, Spain and the United States.
"Terra Networks made the decision to standardize on Vignette's new V/Series architecture as its global e-Business platform because it is the only company to offer a single architecture capable of meeting our long-term needs," says Abel Linares, CEO, Terra Networks. "Uniquely, Vignette allows us to efficiently scale operations rapidly, serve individual countries and communities with personalized, locally relevant material and syndicate our content to other Terra sites. Additionally, Vignette was selected for its proven efficiency in the implementation and expansion of new sites."
"This is a huge endorsement of the new V/Series architecture and our largest software contract ever," said Greg Peters, President and CEO, Vignette Corporation. "Our business relationship with Terra Networks is an important milestone for Vignette because it demonstrates the importance of our new V/Series e-Business applications platform in building businesses online, the value our customers place in Vignette and the rapid progress we have made in penetrating the European market."
