Could you elaborate on the following you had posted earlier?

Everyone talks about 3-tier apps. However, it is important to understand the architectural reasons behind such designs. Separating the presentation, server, and database layers can provide (if the design is correct) better scalibility.

Why would it be more scalable then the ctxs solution? Also, wouldn't other elements of the chain effect the scalability like the interface or gui, and the protocol. I assume you still need an appropriate protocol to further facilitate the "thin client" feel. Would regular IP be enough? Sorry if my questions don't make total sense. Not a software engineer, learning as I go.
