Sir: If you don't already know what a "Katie Couric test" is -- I'm not sure you really WANT to... But seriously, Fred is talking about a colonoscopy -- which is worth spelling-out, since it IS an important health-test and everybody over 40 or so SHOULD have one every few years. The "Couric" reference is to the fact that she did a whole week-long series on colon-cancer recently, including allowing HERSELF to be filmed (from the front) while being given a colonoscopy, just to show how simple and relatively painless it is. All jokes aside, it was really a very valuable public-service that's inspired a lot of people to get themselves checked-out... Vagabond
