Internet Revolution....
>>The internet will dissolve a lot of dams. It will threaten all authoritarian systems (corporate, government), who can only survive by controlling the flow of information. But those dams will simply be replaced by other dams, because people will still need structure, rules, and herds in their lives.
You are going to be disappointed in the results of the Internet Revolution, in the same way that many Communists were disappointed in the results of the Russian Revolution.>>
Brother Snyder:
That's a joke "brother" - "get" it.
No seriously, your comparison of this Internet Spirit and resulting "revolution" to communism misses the core point.
Communism was simply the ole ideological "pull the wool over their eyes" racket-building approach. It was great for diverting people's "time, trust and energy" and get them fooled into building New Dams. But the cycle, like all cycles ran their course.
It's very interesting how the revolution which founded the United States had to, by definition, "break the mold" and "go higher" for it to truly embrace freedom from a core value/belief proposition.
But this progress is painfully slow. For no sooner did Paine write Common Sense and all the rest of his great works which went into the drafting of the Declaration of Independence, Constition, Bill of Rights, then he was shuttled aside as the more traditional "right" Fathers this revolution finished their "structured" politically balanced solution.
The Thomas Paines of the world are never really welcome. They may be the catalyst for transformations, but they're only tolerated for as you unfortunately yet rightly note, humans are naturally "herd animals."
I'm just one of the few - call me crazy - that believe otherwise. That we DO have the potential to "see" and "get" this stuff, even if the percentage of those that do is however small, etc.
>>Now, mostly, we define ourselves by what we do. Mainly, what we do is work. Americans work more hours now, and spend less time at home or with their family, than 20 years ago.>>
Yea, "what WE do!" But that's singular, NOT plural.
But what's "work?"
Isn't ALL "work" SERVICE to others.
It may be "work" to some, but if you truly "get" this River vision and understand this Internet Spirit, work transforms into SERVICE: helping and serving others.
When are lives become daily working grinds it's proof positive that we are not really "living" - ie. risking, sharing, loving.
Much of the herd paradigm of this "work" becomes a just anther political racket - thing like power, control and money supercede VALUES and TRUTH.
Pretty soon we are behind this "dammed" environment wondering how we got there and how we can get out, etc.
The energy and power of the world feeds off passivity. The game is to get people out of their "rivers" - where we all learn the value of risking, sharing and growing the knowledge and wisdom base - and into your "herds" behind these dams.
Just as long we all can accept the price for dam building: pain, work, suffering, etc.
It's really the difference between a "black hole" and the fission energy - "light" - which drives the sun.
All mindset.
And totally, completely up to us.
There's a reason why some Cubans risk losing their lives to cross the straight to Florida and why others passively accept their fate.
Give me liberty....or...
Perhaps we've reached the "state" where we've given so much power/energy away that we really don't live in a FREE country anymore.
Again, it's really up to us - the way we think, what we believe, what we accept.....mindset.
Peace.
GO!!
