Look what I got in my PM in-tray:
<Hi, I'm a reporter with WSJ.com, the web site for the Wall Street Journal. I noticed the Memorial Day Massacre thread you started on SI, I'm interested in talking with you about it. I think it makes for a good message board story, which is what I cover.
I have a tight deadline, and realize our schedules are different if you are in New Zealand, but I'd like to write something up by tonight, New York time. Please give me a call if you can and are willing, collect is OK. >
She also gave some contact details, [not included here in case she doesn't want to be public - can't see why I should respect privacy of news media people, since they are not usually too worried about people and privacy, but oh well, that's me].
Meanwhile, there is a LOT of fun underway again in the Nasdaq. Has anyone got white knuckles yet or their heart in their mouth?
Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee...............
Mqurice
PS: I hope somebody monitors WSJ.com to see if they mention the word 'dehypothecated' and cover the GGMDM cyberspace 4G air-interface.
Re your article about biosecurity, New Zealand is still free of snakes, though they arrive sometimes in freight. In 1996 we were sprayed with pesticide from a DC3 [that's an old kind of aeroplane for those who snap whippers] quite a few times to eliminate a potentially destructive moth which had taken up residence near our suburb. The spraying seems to have been successful and the people are still alive - though many moaned about the mist and blamed it for all human ailments. |
