I would think that the first consideration for any stock purchase would be: "Does this stock belong in my portfolio".We have all heard strange rationalizations for for any stock purchase. The most common being, "I think its going to go up for blah, blah, blah reasons"

AMAT tomorrow can just as easily close tomorrow at 70 or at 85. Short term stock predictions are like some women's promises. They just don't pan out. That being said, a new investor should make a decision that AMAT belongs or does not belong in one's portfolio.

Lastly these semi stocks may become viewed as value stocks in the not too distant future.

When the cries of despair become a symphony its probably time to buy.

Regards, Jerome

PS: DAK What are the other possibilities?
