If you've been following this thread you'll know that, even though I think IBM is sort of a joke as an organization (I followed the rise and fall of the Power Personal Systems division very closely a few years back, not to mention enjoying the game of 'Who Wants to Be an OS Millionaire', in the sense of having a million OS'es), I don't at all discount the danger that Sun has placed itself in by being so late with the UltraSparc III. As I have said many times, this battle is Sun's to lose and they can lose it by not getting new products out. My opinion is that their stuff continues to move in volume in part because they have not much competition, but they are playing hare to the competition's tortoise right now. SUNW management has to get their act together.

You act like the game's already over, and that's far from true (it COULD have been over if SUNW had their act more together). But I acknowledge the threat, and I worry that Sun management is too caught up in posturing and vogueing these days to acknowledge it themselves.

As far as Solaris being a terrible operating system and AIX being great...aw never mind.
