Office Depot Forms Alliance With AOL
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Delray Beach, Fla.-based office supplies retailer Office Depot (NYSE:ODP - news) Inc. and Dulles, Va.-based interactive services company America Online Inc. (NYSE:AOL - news), on Thursday announced a five-year joint marketing alliance valued at over $44 million.

In a statement, the companies said the alliance was designed for the development of a co-branded business site that offers online office solutions to small business customers.

The alliance will provide AOL with a presence across all Office Depot sales channels, including 836 Office Depot retail locations nationwide, and feature Office Depot's name-brand office supplies and other products in shopping and business-to- business areas across several America Online brands, including AOL.COM and Netscape.

Also under the agreement, AOL intends to provide Office Depot with technology in conjunction with the development of this site on a nonexclusive basis, including its ``quick checkout'' tool.
