I still think you need them when you stub your toe. As for your other "judgment"- calling someone judgmental when YOU yourself are being judgmental is ridiculous at best. I have ALWAYS said I am very judgmental- I just don't seek to inflict my judgments on people by using the machinery of the state. I judge overly emotional, irrational, reactionary parents by their children- who do not turn out so well. Of course you can be TOO tolerant, but I'm not going that way either. I am instead, highly judgmental, a proponent of rational thought and my children seem to be finding that THEY can use rational thought to find their own way too. Plus they have the added confidence of knowing that I will always listen to them calmly and help them no matter what problem they bring me- sex, drugs, strange friends, whatever- they know they can bring it to me safely.
