Thanks Greg,
Exactly what I have been thinking, and trying to say in my meandering writings. Even those of us studying studying studying here on S.I. got too exuberant during the great bull that just ended, and believed that 300% and 400% gains were not enough so we didn't take them but waited for more up!
And I agree, don't give up on the market: there will be money to be made, but not yet.
Last May when I was in the depths of dispair because of losing my first-ever million, and having margin call after margin call, I was ready to forget about the market. But S.I. friends urged me to regroup and wait for the indications to buy back in. And I tripled my portfolio from Oct through Jan.
But I let it slip through my fingers.
However, the point is, perhaps we won't see another year like 99 but then again perhaps we will, if we are in the right companies. The purpose is to make money: we can't do that in bonds or CD's.
Good luck all, have patience, we do not have our bull market back yet.
