Lucent loses another manager MURRAY HILL, N.J. - Lucent Technologies has lost a senior manager at its fiber-optic components unit to a rival, the latest in a string of departures at the world's No. 1 phone-equipment maker. Arlon Martin, a director of marketing at the Optoelectronics unit,quit to join a startup, he told colleagues Wednesday in an e-mail. Martin is the eighth key manager to leave the unit since February. Optoelectronics makes the lasers, modulators and other devices used to beam voice and data traffic on fiber-optic networks. Lucent has lost at least 23 managers and engineers to rivals, other companies or retirement since a profit warning on Jan. 6 sent its stock plunging 23% the next day.
