This is the first thing that comes to my mind, but is there any data point that indicates the OEM's are over-reacted, esp. if the application is only in consumer market, not in military ? For example, Sandisk's part may sustain 10G, mechnical part may be half of it, does it really matter?
"Production of Flash technologies are just getting ramped up so prices to OEM's and consumers are sure to fall with it making price comparisons between disk drives and Flash irrelevent." I'm sorry, I don't see that happening anytime soon. My friend's role is to narrow the gap if he decides to work for Sandisk.
