Anadarko Petroleum Corporation and Union Pacific Resources Group Inc. Get Early Clearance from FTC for Merger

HOUSTON and FORT WORTH, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 11, 2000--The proposed merger transaction involving Anadarko Petroleum Corporation (NYSE:APC) and Union Pacific Resources Group Inc. (NYSE:UPR) advanced yesterday when the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) granted early termination of the statutory waiting period required under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Anti-Trust Improvements Act.

Completion of the merger transaction is subject to the approval of the shareholders of both companies and satisfaction of other customary conditions.
