Late summer for ALTA

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS.MW) -- Alta Vista will try again to tap the public market in late summer, David Wetherell, CMGI's chief executive said Thursday during the Chase H&Q tech conference in San Francisco. Speaking about the search engine's bottom line, he said it "will be close to profitable, if not profitable," by the time of the offering. The offering was postponed by Andover, Mass.-based CMGI (CMGI: news, msgs) on April 14 amid a decline in technology stocks. AltaVista was poised to offer its IPO at $18 to $20 per share. See related story. In recent weeks, a number of companies have pulled or postponed public offerings.
