news)(NYSE:NT - news), the world's No. 2 telecommunications equipment supplier,
confirmed on Thursday that John Pittman, its optoelectronics managing director, is leaving the
company.
Pittman will take over on May 17 as chief executive of Princeton Lightwave, a startup company
based in Princeton, N.J., that develops high-powered lasers, according to Light Reading, an
optical networking industry Web site. He was previously based in Nortel's Paignton, England,
optics operation.
``It's not crippling, but it is a blow to Nortel,'' said a telecommunications analyst with a major
Canadian brokerage who asked not to be named. |
