Ted, I always look at the market as "me vs. it". For me to get a good deal, I need to find a sucker to sell me something for less than what it is worth. That can be easy if everyone is selling or buying on emotion. Of course some time I am the one ending up being the "sucker". If everyone thinks stocks are going down, it is a clear indication that the bottom is here. If everyone thinks that it is going down, there is no one left to sell. And the same people who were screaming that the sky is falling end up buying back their shares a lot higher price.

Most of the people who were selling yesterday do not know the first thing about what higher interest rate really means for the economy or how it effects companies earnings. They were just regurgitating what they hear on CNBC or CNN-FN. That provides opportunity that if taken advantage off can be very rewarding. Of course if too many people think every one else is wrong, then the pendulum swings the other way and can be very dangerous, so one has to be very careful. There is fine line between the winners and losers in this market.
