Rambi,
"Live like kings" is just an expression, and of course I did not mean that literally. But on the other hand, compared to their life in Cuba, they would live like kings here in a way..... The child was already "taken" from Juan-Miguel and was meant to live here with his mother anyway. Because his mother died, I can't see the justification for shipping him back to "slave island" with a cowardly non-caring father. (in my opinion) Castro has already risked the anger of much of the world many times over, so I do not believe that he would be very frightened thinking about what the rest of the world would think or do about his decisions regarding Elian should he have to go back to "Stalag Cuba", where all the prisoners are happy (not), and gladly bend over backwards following orders (not). I believe just the opposite in some ways from your viewpoint. The consequences, the ramifications, the implications, the damages, etc, etc, from having a government storm-trooper threaten to kill the very person who rescued little Elian from certain death on the open sea, is something so repugnant in nature that it should never be forgotten as long as this country is in existence.
