Glenn, from my limited experience, amzn spends profligately, but not wastefully. After all, the biggest complaint of many amzn employees is that they're worked like dogs - hardly a sign of wasteful spending. Another example, amzn chose to retrofit an old hospital for its new HQ (in a less-than-chic out-of-the-way neighborhood, no less), rather than build something fancy from scratch. (Not that retrofitting is always cheaper of course.)

But as far as profligate spending, I'd have to agree with you. My guess is we'll see less of that going forward.

At any rate, I must always hand it to Bezos for making the most of any opportunity.
