With IBM's announcement today, benchmarks show that IBM servers beat SUNW servers by only as much as 110% in some benchmarks. IBM has a planned upgrade in later this year, and the POWER4 will come on board in 2001. CPQ's Wildfire is coming out Tuesday, they claim it will beat IBM servers by 60%. So how much faster is that than SUNW servers? Obviously not much. Network Solutions moving their Root A server to IBM should be totally discounted, I mean, who really gives a sh*t about the most important webserver in the world? All in all, you are right, SUNW will pass its all time high in a few weeks. chic BTW- Where's UltraSparcIII? I thought it was coming out in summer of 1998? Since it's so late, won't it be obsolete when it's released? What do they have planned for after UltraSparcIII? Really it doesn't matter, because we all know SUNW will continue to dominate. :-)
