Re protecting your computer:
I was shocked last Winter when I learned that my computer was subject to intrusions. I too got Norton Internet Security and daily or more log attempts to break in that are now blocked. Be warned!

Be also warned that your computer may very well--probably!--has eaten cookies that burp up specific information to marketing companies that track aspects of your actions whilst on line.

Here is a website that offers a lot of information on these topics. The guy who runs the site is Steve Gibson, author of SpinRite and other programs. At the home page look into the "opt out" and "shields up" sections. Along with extensive discussion he offers software solutions.
