People forget what the U stands for in UMTS. They choose to focus on the gee whiz very high data rate stuff while the real drivers are roaming,cost,coverage, QoS and supplementary services (which need not be bandwidth hogs)

Mobile video etc... there *may* be a need for that in the 4-5 year time frame but the 3G operators that believe that there is market for it in the short term, are making a critical timing mistake. The UMTS standard is way ahead of the market.

Globalstar could very well Betamax, or in keeping with our context... dehypothacate WCDMA operators that choose to go with costly 3G auctions and rollouts.

Iïm curious Mqurice if G* is lobbying at the World Radio Conference for more spectrum.
