The National Post reports in its Friday, May 12, edition that Falconbridge is
running out of nickel reserves. The National Post's Briefing column reports that
four of the company's five mines will deplete their ore bodies within the next six or
seven years, says vice-president, Allen Hayward. The firm will continue to
aggressively search for new, economically viable deposits and construction on a
new mine must begin within two years if its is to be up and running in time to
replace those going out of production, says Mr. Hayward.
